I feel warm!!

After our excitement of seeing some plaster /gyprock go up sometime between Christmas and New Year....we were a little disheartened to see that there hadn't been any further work done this week  :(
In fact, the plasterer had even taken their microwave & kettle & chairs......

So, today (Sunday) we popped over to the house to check that the heated towel rail we bought yesterday would fit in our ensuite and were surprised to see that there had indeed been some work done - the insulation was in!!!

Fingers crossed we get some more action this week now that the builders are back from their Christmas break!

2012 - A New Year and a new start!!

Hello and Happy New Year!!

I have just realised we haven't updated for almost a month!!  Oh my!!  Where has the month gone??

Well, we spent 10 days in Qld in early Dec, then became busy with Christmas and the festive season - we were worried about going away and missing some action on the house, but we needn't have been worried - there wasn't any action AT ALL while we were away!  We have been waiting on the plasterer....apparently he is worth waiting for!

So, we all had a lovely Christmas and on Boxing Day we took some of the family up to have a look through the house and they were all very impressed!!

We were away for New Years and came back today....we thought we would drive past the house (as we hadn't seen it all year!!) and were extremely surprised to see there had been some work done on the house since Boxing Day!! (We weren't expecting any progress until after the Christmas break - so around the 9th Jan!!)

WE HAVE SOME CEILINGS!!!!!  And there has been a massive delivery of gyprock/plaster - all ready and waiting!!

Building supervisors checking out the gyprock delivery and work done thus far on the ceiling!

The pile of Gyprock!!

The lounge with ceiling!

The garage all ready and waiting for gyprock

The plasterers making themselves at home with a microwave and kettle!

We are really pleased to see this next stage and can't wait for further progress!!

Could we be on track to be in sometime in Feb????  Time will tell I guess!!!  ;)

Plaster/Gyprock should be going in over the next couple of weeks and there may be some painting done before Christmas!   Installation of cabinetry/units etc may occur after the Christmas break.

A little bit more progress.....

And again, we've had more requests for an update! I am so pleased that there are people out there reading this and it's not just us! :)

Since the last update:

The front door frame has been changed

The bath surround (?hob) has been installed.  The bath won't go in until a lot later to avoid being damaged.  Building Inspector #1 checking it out

Extra noggins have been put in.  Here they are in the family bathroom for the toilet roll holder!

Our cavity slider frames have been installed - this is the one into the ensuite

We shifted the remaining bricks (515!) out of the way so we can use them later for....well, we're not too sure exactly, but maybe letterbox, pizza oven??

We are really looking forward to see what happens next! :)

A surprise find......

We had a chance to go and visit the house 'child free' on Sunday afternoon to check out a few things and were pleasantly surprised to find some work had been done since our visit on Friday evening.

There were some more bricks and the sills had been done on a few rooms:

Bathroom and toilet windows - complete with their sills

The front porch - all completed apart from the front door which needs to be changed.

The windows for the study and the ensuite

Master bedroom window

Bricking on the walls almost there....

Quite a quiet week

A combination of rain and horseracing has meant a slow week - that and the fact that building brick walls is slower than putting up wooden frames.
Lake Midgley is back - didn't wash away the dunny though.
Someone has been planing down the internal frame in preparation for the plasterboard
